Celebrate Brazil’s rich volleyball heritage
The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) and its partner, Body Work, a sports brand from Riachuelo recently had a blast celebrating the 40th anniversary of Brazil's first volleyball medal at the 1984 Summer Games. It also served as the perfect stage for Body Work to unveil the stylish new uniforms for the national indoor and beach volleyball teams, designed with the sustainable COOLMAX® EcoMade fiber made from 100% textile waste.
On June 27, 2024, Volleyball Day, an exclusive gathering at Christ the Redeemer Statue in Rio, brought together renowned athletes and special guests to witness the unveiling of the new volleyball uniforms. Brazil has earned 24 Summer Games medals—13 in beach volleyball and 11 in indoor volleyball. Four medalists—Bruno Schmidt, Juliana, Tande, and Virna—showcased the new uniforms. The gathering also honored the Brazilian women's team's back-to-back Summer Game victories in 2008 and 2012, as documented in the series "As Bicampeãs".
The new uniforms honor Brazil's rich volleyball heritage, particularly the "Generation of Silver" from the 1984 Summer Games and integrate elements of French fashion in homage to the 2024 Summer Games by incorporating geometric patterns reminiscent of Brazil's flag and the Art Deco movement of 1920s Paris.
Be in the know, share some fun facts with your friends when you watch the games. Notice the thoughtful consideration that went into the design of these uniforms as they also incorporate 20 lines crossing 24 times, symbolizing 2024. The retro-inspired polo collar and player numbers celebrate the styles of the 1980s and 1990s.
